Our Mission

We strive to facilitate community partnerships, increase capacity for substance use prevention education, and increase awareness about wellness through implementation of research-based programs, environmental strategies, and community outreach to promote safe and drug-free lifestyles.

Our Vision

Harnessing Collective Strength for a Substance-Free Future: Raleigh County United for Prevention envisions a future where our collaborative efforts harness the strength of our community to ensure a substance-free environment for our youth and adults. Together, we strive to create long-lasting positive change and build a healthier future for all.

Raleigh County United for Prevention aims to decrease the risk of substance misuse
within Raleigh County, West Virginia. Prevention strategies may include targeting at risk
populations to engage them in awareness, community service, positive development,
education, and building connections. The primary at-risk population includes youth and
adults within the county who have been exposed to substance use or have a recent history
of substance use.

The Coalition recognizes all members come to the coalition with differing concerns, needs,
abilities, resources, passions, and perspectives. We utilize a synergetic process to identify
priorities for action and encourage all members to share and pool their resources and
abilities to solve community concerns.

General membership is open to all community members and service providers who support
the vision of the Coalition. The Board of Directors will be part of the general membership
and represent a specific sector.

Let's get to work!

A wife. A mom. An advocate. A volunteer.

I lived with my grandparents as a child before entering foster care as a teenager. I aged out of the foster care system when I turned age 18. In 2015, I graduated Concord University with my master’s in social work. For eight years, I worked with a foster care agency in different roles, from direct service to consultation, to program and policy implementation.

The value of relationships in communities is vital, families cannot thrive alone, they need people in their corner and connection.

We can accomplish more together, in synergy, than we can alone in contempt, “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”

The goal for the Family Support Center is to build strong communities of families that can pull the next generation up to be stronger.
